The Japanese Holly Fern, Cyrtomium fortunei,
is growing here on the (almost) permanently shaded 'cliff' at the rear
of the house. The 'cliff' consists partly of a natural rock face and partly
of a naturalistic retaining wall. It is home to mosses, the devilish Helxine
soleirolii otherwise known as Soleirolia soleirolii (try
pronouncing this quickly several times in a row!), various ferns, Primula
vulgaris, Bowles' Golden Grass (Milium effusum 'Aureum'),
Ramondas (still experimental and not fully successful), epiphytic
cacti and bromeliads together with miscellaneous items. |
