Beschorneria septentrionalis pushes up an impressive flower spike which splendidly complements the surrounding exotic foliage; in its later stages the spike becomes less imposing. Beschorneria is related to the agaves and, like them, is also monocarpic. But by the time one rosette has flowered, others have grown to take its place and the clump continues to increase in size.
