Bearded irises are not a favourite of mine:
they are generally difficult to manage, their flowering season is short
and the foliage is totally uninspiring and they tend to attract weeds like
no other plant. However, there are some wonderful varieties whose scented
flowers delight me so much that I cannot get myself to put excess plants
on the compost heap.
