Carex elata 'Aurea', otherwise known as Bowles' golden sedge, grows best in moist rich soil and in good light. The patch at the end of the rill suits it perfectly and its long golden leaves stand out against the background of green foliage. In order to ensure a tidy and healthy appearance in spring we cut this plant right down to the ground in late winter before fresh growth starts.
